Company of Heroes

Published by THQ, Inc.
Developed by Relic Entertainment
Released 2006
Genre Strategy

Description :

A a real-time strategy game that drops you into the fray of World War II Europe. From the bloody beaches of Omaha to the deadly firefights of the Bocage, you attempt to lead your troops to victory one battle at a time.

What really sets Company of Heroes apart from other real-time strategy games, much like Relic Entertainment's previous entry is that you no longer train and control individual troops. Instead you deploy squads of soldiers. Players must train a balanced assortment of units in order to obtain victory over their adversaries.

In addition, resource gathering has gone in a different direction from that of other RTS games. Now players must attempt to capture and control strategic points which bring in the much needed resources of manpower, munitions and fuel to build and train new units.

Company of Heroes' Essence Engine brings a new level of depth to RTS games with deformable terrain and completely destructible environments. Units will take cover in burnt out craters and tanks can decimate buildings suspected of containing snipers.

The game comes with three modes of play -- single-player campaign, single-player skirmish and online multiplayer.

Description :

The world is on the brink of Armageddon. A full-scale global thermonuclear war has broken out, and as a general in a bunker somewhere, you must direct your offensive and defensive systems to nuke your opponents. Nobody wins, but maybe you can lose the least. Everybody dies.

DEFCON is an online multiplayer strategy game, but it can also be played in a singleplayer mode. Players place units, such as missile silos, airbases and radar dishes, on their territorial maps, and the game counts down from DEFCON 5 to DEFCON 1, during which time the players are to make strategic choices to eliminate their opponents without losing too much themselves.

The gameplay is shown on a large world map and the action is represented by icons and lines reminiscent of the drawing style of their two previous games: Darwinia and Uplink.
